HOW DO SARMs WORK
In order to achieve this goal, SARMs were designed to be as selective as possible. Unlike AAS, which target multiple organs and parts of the body besides the muscles, SARMs only target muscle and bone, which (on paper) means that they have less side effects than AAS since they do not impact the prostate, the heart, the hair, etc…

The lack of selectivity of AAS (Steroids) is what causes them to have all kinds of androgenic and estrogenic side-effects, so by developing a new kind of drug that only targeted muscle and bone mass, the scientists who developed the first SARMs were hoping to create a side-effect-free alternative to AAS. Unfortunately, creating new drugs is not that easy and even though some SARMs are in fact very selective and “clean”, there is enough anecdotal evidence to suggest that SARMs as a whole do have serious side-effects (more on that later).
Even though each SARM is unique and has slightly different effects and properties, we could say that all SARMs share the following properties:
- SARMs are anabolic and can grow muscle mass by increasing protein synthesis.
- SARMs can increase bone density.
- SARMS can increase strength and performance.
- SARMs are orally bioavailable (meaning that you don’t need to inject them).
- SARMs will cause Testosterone Suppression & Dyslipidemia, among other side-effects.
- SARMs are legal to buy & sell for research purposes only (you are not supposed to take them).
RAD-140 VS. ANAVAR
As you can see in this comparison, both compounds are quite similar in terms of benefits. Anavar is clearly superior when it comes to building muscle and improving aesthetics, but RAD-140 may be just as good when it comes to increasing strength. As always, keep in mind that everyone’s experience will be different and the results that one gets depend on many factors.

SARMS SIDE EFFECTS
ALL SARMs side effects share two universal undesirable effects: Testosterone Suppression and Dyslipidemia, which is a reduction in HDL (good) Cholesterol and increase in LDL (bad) Cholesterol. Testosterone suppression will manifest itself by causing erectile dysfunction, reducing libido, causing lethargy and worsening energy, motivation and mood. Dyslipidemia is not a side-effect that you will feel in the short or medium term, but having skewed lipids for extended periods of time puts you at increased risk of developing heart disease.
Since Testosterone suppression can cause all kinds of nasty symptoms during the SARMs cycle, many users choose to use what’s known as a Testosterone Base (Test Base). The goal of using a Test Base is to solve the lack of endogenous Testosterone and/or Estrogen by introducing it exogenously. Gynecomastia is less common, and it usually affects men who already had pubertal gyno or naturally elevated estrogen levels before the SARMs cycle.
